Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

I have been on a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds binge for quite some time. There’s something powerful about Nick’s deep, earnest, spoken-word delivery. Some songs don’t even have a chorus. It’s jut him telling a long story, but I want to hear the whole dang story.

The “talk-singing” style isn’t something I normally dig. For whatever reason, it works for me with Nick. The Bad Seeds add lush instrumentation, punchy punk/post-punk angst and everything in between.

If you aren’t familiar with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, please consider that for every fanciful song of romantic notions or melancholy vulnerability, he will hit you in the face with a barking F-bomb (or 10 F-Bombs and a couple of S-Bombs for good measure). Those aren’t really the tunes I favor. I’m much more in his style in the attached Spotify Playlist.

Now let’s check out some more cool music together.

If you don’t have Spotify, You’ll have an option to create an account or enjoy the clips.

Here is a riveting performance of “Jubilee Street”. There is a whole different flavor when he is shouting “Look at me now !!” Maximum Intensity
*Nick does shout an F*Bomb to the crowd, which ordinarily isn’t part of the song. Nevertheless, a powerful performance.

Hopefully this will launch you into another quest for more records, CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs or whatever medium you fancy. Happy listening. Happy music hunting. Go out and getcha some.

Thank you for taking the time to dance in my Cranial Circus.
