My eyes have known
All the faces I’ve seen
All the women I could’ve had
It’s you they’ll never replace
The love that you’ve given me
Makes my heart feel inside
Like the love that you’ve given me
Will always keep us alive
Don’t run away from me girl
Won’t you hear the voices that lovers find
It’s just love I bring in the songs I sing
Won’t you please come back for love today
How does it feel
To know love is alive
In the face of a memory
Of making love one more time
You’ve given me life
And tears of love along the way
All the girls that go walking by
Could never take your place
Don’t run away from me girl
Won’t you hear the voices that lovers find
It’s just love I bring in the songs I sing
Won’t you please come back for love today
My eyes have shown
All the places I’ve been
All the women I could’ve had
It’s you they’d never replace
Don’t run away from me girl
Won’t you hear the voices that lovers find
It’s just love I bring in the songs I sing
Won’t you please come back for love today
Fun Facts :
As with most of my writing, it was a tune that was based firmly in what was happening in my world. My adult life was just starting to move forward. In record time, I found myself strapped to a hot rocket. Nothing could prepare me for the wild ride and turmoil that would soon envelope me for many years. The lyrics aren’t fancy and the chord progressions are far from complex. Nevertheless, it set the tone for everything that would soon follow. It’s also just one of the many songs that would be inspired by an extremely significant, albeit complex, relationship. Thank you for taking the time to dance in my Cranial Circus.
