The first few years of the 2000s brought us many fantastic albums from legacy hard rock 80s bands. Numerous reasons lead to these releases getting lost in the shuffle; smaller labels, no promotional/tour support, radio/tv changing drastically, fans being caught up in the sadly non music fan aspects of adulthood, bands breaking up then reuniting, and of course the “80s stigma”.
Early Aughts Gems
One of my absolute favorites from the early aughts era is “Into the Now” (2004) from Tesla.
After a lengthy hiatus, this was their first studio album since 1994’s “Bust a Nut”. This one is quite possibly my favorite Tesla album. It’s certainly the one I listen to the most.
Favorite Tracks
The title track is absolutely killer! “Look at Me” rocks, “Caught in a Dream” should have been a monstrous hit. “Mighty Mouse” has such a heavy groove riff. “What a Shame” and “Got No Glory” are two other favorites.
The whole album is rock solid. Give it listen if you missed the first time around (or revisit it if you didn’t give it a proper listen when it was released). The supporting tour for this record was also fantastic. They didn’t ignore their new album in the set list. I love it when my old bands play new music along with their popular tunes.
