Breakable

copyright 2020 Cranial Circus

I watched from the edge of my window
Hours they turned into days
From the edge of the bed, I covered my head
Searched for a new song to sing

Seems life has stalled on the sidewalk
Where children once drew red and green
Arms open wide, they’d stumble inside
“Daddy come play here with me”.

Where are the castles we cling to
Why are the dreams for the young
Fanciful things, new songs to sing
Keep us from coming undone

I used to be unbreakable
I’m not unbreakable now
Time slips away, every new day
Buries the beauty somehow
I’m breakable
So breakable
Breakable now

I dreamed today of the mountain
Snow covered cottage in spring
White hills and roads wherever we go
Summers spent down by the sea

I brushed her hair in the moonlight
Owls perched high looking at me
Singing their song, carrying on
I woke up with nothing by me

Where are the castles we cling to
Why are the dreams for the young
Fanciful things, new songs to sing
Keep us from coming undone

I used to be unbreakable
I’m not unbreakable now
Time slips away, every new day
Buries the beauty somehow
I’m breakable
So breakable
Breakable now

Where are the castles we cling to
Why are the dreams for the young
Fanciful things, New songs to sing
Keep us from coming undone

I’m breakable
Breakable
Breakable now
